The Church of the Nazarene
The first Nazarenes gathered in a cottage prayer meeting in the capitol city of Paramaribo in August of 1982. The fist church was officially organized during a charter signing ceremony in October 1984. Eighteen people signed the charter. In March 1985, the second congregation was formed in Liverno. This congregation held services in English but Sunday School in Dutch.
Today, the Church of the Nazarene in Suriname has five churches with just over 400 members, two Dutch speaking, two French Creole speaking, and one English. This is a growing area in the Caribbean. Continue to pray for this country, its churches and its pastors.
