Séminaire Théologique Nazaréen d’Haïti (Haiti Nazarene Bible College) is an educational institution of the Church of the Nazarene. The College exists to train and empower individuals for Christian ministry in harmony with its Wesleyan-Arminian theological tradition.
STNH is located on 27 acres of land on the outskirts of Port-au-Prince in the community of Frères. The lovely campus is graced with a wide variety of trees and landscaping. In addition to academic complex of classrooms, offices, chapel, library, dorms, student lounge, and cafeteria, the campus is home to the national offices of the Church of the Nazarene, a medical clinic and a 1,500-seat tabernacle as well as several missionary homes.
The colors of the school are gold and red, and the motto is « Holiness unto the Lord. »
Top HISTORY OF STNH
The Church of the Nazarene was established in Haiti in 1950 by the Paul Orjala family. Orjala began the process of preparing future ministers in 1951. The school was opened in 1956 under the name Nazarene Bible Institute.
From 1956 to 1972 the Institute prepared 116 young people for the Christian ministry. In the spring of 1972 the school was closed. It was reopened in 1975 under a new director, Jeanine van Beek. The school functioned as a high school as well as a Bible Institute until 1984 when the current name was adopted.
Top ACADEMIC PROGRAMS
The Bible College offers two programs : the Diploma in Theology and the License in Theology. Students in the diploma program reside on campus for three years and must pass a total of 96 semester hours to graduate. The license (equivalent to a B.A.) program takes an additional two-years after the diploma to complete.
Both programs are fully accredited by the Haitian government. STNH is one of only seven schools across the country of Haiti authorized to offer the Bachelor degree. STNH maintains member status in the Caribbean Evangelical Theological Association (CETA).
