Hurricane Gustav
At 3 p.m. Hurricane Gustav continues to pound Haiti and the D.R. with 90 mph winds and rain. We have received initial reports of Nazarenes in the Dominican Republic being stranded away from home because of rising water and wind. We know that this storm is going to affect our Nazarenes in ways that will only be fully realized in the hours and days after the storm. Now is the time to pray! Now is the time to act.
As you read this note, Gustav is over the Jacmel Nazarene District in SE Haiti. It is scheduled to go NW over the Haiti South District. We have many Nazarenes in this area. However, the eastern part of any hurricane (East of the eye) is always the worst for rain and wind and this eastern part of Gustav will affect almost all of Haiti, including Port au Prince and the island of La Gonave. There will be flooding. Please pray for our brothers and sisters in Haiti who are feeling all of this right now.
Take this need to your mid-week service and join with us in seeking ways to provide relief for the victims of this storm.

Pray for the safety of our Nazarene brothers and sisters, as well as people the local churches can help through this trial.
