          Child Development         

A Footprint to Follow

 

Café, a community in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic known for the coffee grown and harvested there, is also known for the poverty of its people. Unemployment is high here, and violence is on the rise. The rate of single mothers has steadily increased, and many children are undernourished. Countering these daunting statistics is the community’s Child Development Center called Huellas. The Spanish word for footprints, Huellas is a shining light of hope for the more than 60 children who come there each week to find nourishment, education, and loving relationships...continued here
