W&W Information:
You must have a valid passport to enter the DR.
Tourist Cards: All visitors who enter the country are required to purchase a tourist card (tarjeta del tourista) which cost US $10 This card is very often included with the airline ticket, but they can also be obtained at the airport or at the border crossings. The peso is the official currency; however, local store owners and businesses would prefer to be paid in dollars. Current exchange is approximately 32 R.D. Pesos = 1 U.S. Dollar.
Please check for daily changes in exchange rates. These are sometimes drastic.
Please do NOT drink the tap water. There are many places to buy bottled water in the DR. And if all else fails, boil it.
Electricity in the DR is the same as it is in North America-110-volts with the same outlets.
Check with your local travel center and doctor for any needed vaccinations.
You can dial direct to the DR by dialing 1-809-#
