Today, ten years later, a piece of land has been purchased and a building started. More than $144,000 has gone into the building thus far, with more than half of that coming from the local congregation.
Several months ago, Dr. Ketchum received this message: "And now for the good news—the Cayenne church has purchased the tile, cement, and sand to do the floor of the new church building. There is a professional tile setter in the church, and he and his crew are coming Friday to do the work."
Just last week Dr. Ketchum received a fax from pastor Maignan with this update — "We still need $30,000 to finish the building and move in. But listen to what the church has done — we just finished the major task of putting in the plumbing and septic system. The flooring is done, the roof is on. All we have left is the finish work, the painting, the electricity, the parking, and the sanctuary furnishings. That sounds like a "YET I WILL REJOICE!"
Although they still pay high rent with no assistance from outside sources — they rejoice in the Lord with new members added to the congregation, new converts added to the family of God, a renewed spirit of hope as they reach out to the greater Cayenne community and plant two new preaching points. They have reason to REJOICE AND CELEBRATE!
